  • subjectivity fail.

I have been involved in DIY record labels and bands for the last 10 years. I love musics and embrace my snobbery and used to feel the sentiments expressed in the orginal post.

I am entirely happier now that i havent learnt that these things do not matter at all!
    not one jot.
this quest for authenticity in music is unending and impossible and will eventually make you stop listenning to or enjoying music. Put more energy into finding the music you do like/creating music.

and recognise that all of the people on your list of the angels of musical integrity have made compromises to get where they are or have worked an angle for kudos.
i.e Bjork calling brian chippendale into drum on a track at the height of lightning bolt mania or the obscene amounts of money bands of integrity are pocketting to reform and play events such as ATP (e.g. slint)

Enjoy what you like. Forgot the rest, you'll not convert anyone to your way of thinking. It is unimportant. or choose the route of most resistance and spend the rest of music career grinding the enjoyment out of every note you listen to or play.
