Hey,
If i could not hear the music i hate, if i could ignore it then i would have no problem....but it is being rammed down my throat.....or ears.
And, like i mentioned, i do understand it, music that i dont like, i am totally on it, i understand it and can enjoy it as a guilty pleasure - but i can understand when it is a 'guilty pleasure'....its when people are not on it and yet TELL me i like weird or shit music that pushes me over the edge.....that Bjork is shit and not as good as Florence and the Machine that i feel like cutting my head off!!
I give a shit too much to not be able to ignore it.
Surely that makes sense?

fine, totally fine - you can like FATM over Bjork - thats not the issue, its when people dont understand that in almost everyway Bjork is better and that FATM gets heralded as this incredible female vocalist with an 'uncompromising ability' or 'a unique power unlike anyone'....you know, the kind of shit that someone will read on the listening post write up at Rough Trade and then go telling everyone else like its the divine truth......there is nothing or uniquely powerful about her...she is very much compromisable and weak..... but Bjork, a true innovator, an incredible musician, a musician that everyone should aspire to be like in someway would be shunted aside.
then again, i guess she's not cool huh?

I didn't mean the young comment to disregard you but I remember 20 year ago feeling that I was out of step with the world when it came to music.
Then I put on Minor Threat and got baked. It wasn't even ironic.

You can ignore whatever you want, I haven't listened to the radio for years, have no idea what goes on in the charts or what is deemed cool, or who the next big band of the moment are. I listen to podcasts, radio stations, go listen to dj's who I know play music I like/love/want to dance to.
You choose to be enraged by the music that you don't like out there, I gave up long ago trying to convince people that the music i like is better than what they like, or that the music they listen to is shite, thats not why I was placed here, I'm here for a good time, not a long time, and engaging in self defeating flagellation at the sheep who listen to shite would take too motherfucking long, so I don't and I listen to what makes me happy and ignore the rest.and as I said if you can't do the same, your musical life will be one long tirade against the dying of the light, and you'll end up hanging out of the window raging...

Mate - i'm normally relaxed about this stuff...it bothers me but...i sit back and take misinformed opinion after misinformed opinion. and i dont listen to the radio and i dont have a TV, however...it's kinda everywhere.....pretty much. today....it just pissed me off too far.
