When my dad and I were cycling to Glasgow a few years back someone chucked a banana skin at him and started making monkey noises and shouting the typical racist nonsense. The people in the car couldn't have seen the queue at the traffic lights 30 metres ahead. As my dad I approached a few seconds later they -in what must have been blind panic-pulled out to make an escape only to be hit side on by an oncoming van. Thankfully no one was hurt and once the police arrived the driver was arrested.
That reminded me, had a minivan driver call me a 'f*cking p*ki cyclist' yesterday, completely unprovoked; it's like he was trying to dent my ego on two fronts. If he didn't look like such a loser slob himself I might have felt hurt.
...your story's better though. :D
To OP, glad you could keep your composure (from the sounds of it) and stay safe.
