  • do you think basil was holding back or did we keep pace ok?? i know he flew up that hill after madingley...is that granham's hill?

  • Granhams hill is out the back addenbrooke, shelford way i think.
i didnt really take in what people were saying last night when i got back in, i was fucked!

d-goods, not to sound rude, who are you? which bike were you on last night? im not very good with names, but remember bikes. haha

  • i think my bikes rightful place is probably in the HHSB thread...black track frame - otherwise pretty loud all over, bull horns...ring any bells? black tee...combats...left you guys after Barton at about 8.15...any more bells?

  • Personally i enjoyed it . I do appreciate it is a social bike outing and we shouldn't abandon people in the middle of nowhere at night in the dark, but maybe we should have a slow med and quick group like other bike clubs do . Or maybe we should sod off and start a fixed chain gang on a different night and keep thursday as a social .

  • Just a general note not aimed at anyone, more as a guideline. I think it's fine to say that the pace is 'variable'. generally we do stop and wait for people. Not wanting to sound harsh but the caveat is you are on a private excursion, none of us are or want to be responsible for everyone's wellbeing! We don't want to loose people but it can happen. so be aware of your surroundings or bring a map. bring lights, toolkit, puncture repair kit, pump and spanner.

Usually the pace for much of the ride is medium, if anyone wants to 'put the hammer down' they are welcome to and people can join in or hang back, just stop at the next junction and wait for the rest. Expect people to speed up towards the end and race back into cambridge.

If people want a slower paced ride then suggest a route and lead it. We'll all have to follow you then!

  • anyone fancy a ride out to stneots and back really early tomorrow morning? 5:30am ish

Yeah, i know who you are now! haha easy to find your back wheel in the semi darkness to draft. haha

That was mentioned a few pages back i think, but fairly quickly shot down due to the week then becoming too full of riding with polo being on Sunday/Tuesday and the ride on Thursday.
I know that my fitness levels held me back towards the end of the ride last night. As RV saw me as soon as i got in, it was the bike that was pushing me along, but I was trying to chase you to catch you up. haha.
Was nice at the start/middle of the ride, still in a pack, decent pace going on and able to have a convo with someone, which is what it all is about for me. As said, its a social event.
Will probably all be sorted the next time I ride.
gonna miss you guys :( hahaha

  • Have a good time in Cardiff !
We'll still be here when you return , probably still arguing about the same stuff

  • im in Newport RV.
its close to Cardiff, ill give you that, but about 1000x shitter.
imagine Arbury estate, covered in shite, then made welsh. that just about sums up Newport

all sounds right to me, any excuse to whinge though and i'll take it tee hee

on a separate note, possibly of interest to you thursday riders, anyone fancy doing a longer ride out to where i now live, with a tea and cake stop at mine (seeing as i failed to sort out a bbq over summer at my old spot)? we pretty much did the ride out on thursday, only a five more miles and you are here..

if any takers, i'll bake some tasty cake

  • Caker maker

is it me or does this message have a sinister/want to come and see some fluffy bunny rabbits type ring to it?

whats your secret ingredient, types? rohypnol?

seriously though...where do you live?? lost count of the quaint sleepy villages we clocked up last week. for the record i thought last week was ace. i've only been out twice - first time seemed quite a chilled pace. last week was a mix of havin it and being able to chat whilst riding...perfect balance.

cambridge sam made some comment about drafting my back wheel in the dark...made even easier by the draft created by my fat ass...and it aint gonna get any smaller pootling about at 15mph ('',)

  • harro guys, just joined the forum (against your advice).

  • hey bogey,
nah i havent got a mallet together. ive got a pair of ski poles, but no pipe :(

  • COULD SOMEONE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BRING SOME PIPE TO THE RIDE TOMORROW
    taaa

  • tom...PM gregory on the polo thread...he has pipe and needs skipole...you have ski poles and need pipe...you two are made for each other...polo bromance in the air

  • I'm not around tomorrow unfortunately, I might be around on Sunday for polo but these next 2 weeks are fucking mental for me......

  • Anyone would think there is a film festival or something.

  • now...who is who?

Im Sam, the one that wont be there very often any more.
white Rory O'Brien fixed and blue polo bike

  • note to self...buy lights, and maybe even a map.

can anyone put together an approx route of what we did last night? between fen ditton and then linking up with the a1303 back into i haven't got a clue where we were.

anyone got any light recommendations? like the idea of the knog gators but dunno if i can be arsed with the cable+battery mountage.

    cheers

  • maybe?
Halfords used to have some semi decent ones. had a set you could charge from your USB drive which i thought was pretty awesome, and over the top! haha.
ive got my little set i got from there with my 5finger discount. im worse that Oz! haha. but they are no good for actually seeing where to go, just to be seen
