The correct torque setting for cranks is tight as fuck. If your crank is coming loose you probably need a new one. This is all assuming it's a square taper, obviously.

In my experience theres a very thin line between 'tight as fuck' and 'shear off bolt and shout fuck' thus the need for a torque wrench, cheers for the pdf Iron Sloth thats perfect.

For your crank, get a half inch drive torque wrench and appropriate socket, 15mm probably. I managed to shear the head off my 3/8" socket driver trying to get some cranks off once.

be careful, most car mech's won't have a torque wrench that will go below 20. 20 is allot.

'20 is alot'. Cheers Nhatt I might adopt this as a maxim.

It can do sockets obviously, but can you bung allen key thingos on it?

10-80Nm
So the range is on the high end, but still useful for most bike bolts. (stem bolts use around 10 Nm).

Thank you SF.
I need it for seatpost bolt in carbon frame. I was not given a manual with my bike, which I've been chasing for months so I dont know the torque torque settings.

Yes, you will be able to stick hex bits in it.
10 - 80 Nm is far too high for stems, seatpost clamp, chainring bolts etc.

I have two torque wrenches:
5 - 25 Nm
19 - 110 Nm
Covers everything you might need on a bike.

I need to find the torque limits.
Im putting the cart before the horse here.
Anyone know what they're doing with one of these things? My crank keeps coming loose, gonna pop into the mechanics next door and use theirs just wondering what the right forces should be?
cheers
