Not sure black, or something that covers up the ugly welds, but then the pink panther looks great am tempted by a deep purple, a bit like an aubergine colour. I think that would look pretty great, but not sure whether i would build it with shiny silver components or black ones, to make it more understated.

Nooo! Don't paint it!! Just get the forks painted to match. That's a great colour.
And black of silver bits would work just as well on it.
