Just to say, i hope you've tried listing this on Glasgow's FGSS site as well.
also +1 for using an Irn Bru can as an impromptu stand.

You have to start young to appreciate it !

I was about to says it's pretty expensive until I realise the frame is a titanium/cromo, not sure how good is that thought.

Raleigh managed to source a load of titanium tubes from the former Soviet Union in the mid nineties (I think!), same time that titanium ice-axes suddenly got a lot cheaper.
Friend of mine had a Grisley MTB which he sold to buy a Dyna-Tech having had a go on one at an MTB race.
From memory they were lugged with the Ti tubes bonded in, although this is all a little hazy.
Anyway- they made pretty light frames which handled nicely and had that Titanium spring to them as far as I recall.
On a seperate note I've bought from Allister and he knows his stuff.

other peoples' definitions of 'beater' are different to mine

You get used to it- many polo bikes were nicer than my first fixed gear.

Damn, this frame is the perfect size for me. Why am I skint? If it doesn't sell and you'd consider splitting it then PM me, I'd be interested in the frame and fork.

I have just had a look at this again and it is a bit too expensive.
I understand that it's hard to price the quality of ride this bike has.... it's really kind of magic !
I have a number of really nice bikes but this is the one I like riding about town and in to work, there is some thing about it that I would pay GBP 350 for, but I understand thats a very personal thing.
**So I will reduce the price to GBP 320 including posage to the UK **
I would value opinions on the price of components if I was to split the bike up.
These are the prices I was thinking of plus a contribution to the postage costs.
Equipment Split price :
Frame with headset + Seatpin GBP 150 + 12 postage
Rear Wheel: Double fixed 28 hole Novotec sealed bearing hub on Navigator Clincher rim spaced to 136mm Centres
**Split price GBP 50 GBP plus 8 for tyre and tube **Front Wheel: Formula 32 hole sealed bearing hub on Planet X box section clincher rim.
**Split price GBP 40 + GBP 8 for tyre and tube **Tyres: Continental 3000 with red side wall strip
Saddle: Scott
Split price GBP 10Stem: Cinelli 1A 90mm Bars: Unknown bull horns
Split price GBP 20Chainset: Shimano Early 105 170mm cranks (FC-1056) with 130 BCD arms 48T Shimano Ring with inner spacer ring .BB Shimano sealed 105 cartridge
Split price GBP 40Rear Sprocket : 16 tooth Dura Ace

what do you mean rear wheel spaced to 136 centres?
-
• #16
The frame rear ends are 136mm across the inside dimension of the drop outs.
The wheel axle dimension over the lock nuts has been increased from 120mm to 136mm by placing an 10mm spacer on the off side and 6mm on the drive side of the axle.
This means the frame is not being bent / compressed to tighten the wheel up and the rear chain and seat stays are in correct alignment and the chain line is correct for smooth running.
Hope that helps.

I ride a similar frame, they have a great feel to them. I stripped the Ti tubes back to bare metal, a really nice matte sheen with no seam.
-
• #18
It is a bit smaller than I would usually ride I think. I am 1.70m, what do you think on size? dibs (with postage to london), depending on the answer. I used to have a dyna-tech MTB, was cool! PM sent too.

Got your PM and replied.
Looks likeit could be a sale subject to checking the sizes out.
I am selling my Raleigh Dyna-Tech Fixie Beater,
You can have a look at some pictures here:
http://picasaweb.google.com/girlontheway/DynaTechFixieBeater06092009?authkey=Gv1sRgCLjFjMm-o9PTWA#
It's a Raleigh special products division composite road frame made of Titanium / Cr-Mo tubing, finished in a lovely deep pink / plum metallic colour with original decals.
It still has the fittings for rear brake, bottle cages and gears if you want to convert it back to a road bike.
The bike rides really well , is light and responsive with a very smooth comfortable ride compared to a stiff alloy or carbon track frame.
**Dimensions: **
Top Tube centre to centre 52.5

Saddle height as shown in the pictures 70cm
**Equipment : **
Rear Wheel: Double fixed 28 hole Novotec sealed bearing hub on Navigator Clincher rim spaced to 136mm Centres
