Interesting. Could this be about the split between the 'real' you and 'Balki', your forum persona? You say "I" had stuff stolen but the rest of the dream is about "we". You have two bikes, even when one disappears another one is present and this is immediately followed by a strong image of "splitting up". Then when you confront the thieves although they are separate people the image is of one person split in to more than one.
The musical equipment puzzles you; who is this person? The one with a bike you recognise but who is this other character? The dream starts with 'you' making a move; on this forum Hackney is synonymous with bike theft so for a cyclist (Balki) this move is a risky one. Sure enough your bike is stolen and your identity is questioned. Is this a fear that change will lead to disaster, to 'you' not being sure who 'you' are anymore? Or that if you change, make a move, you won't be able to rely on being Balki anymore?
The police's job is to determine the truth of a situation; they approach but do not intercede; their departure leaves you hopeful of getting your things back or, one might say, of re-integration, the threat of detective work, of questions asked, recedes and with it you are relieved and optimistic. Things will return to normal.
You ask Am I gay? You know you are not gay. You are asking, perhaps, Who am I? Am I Balki?
I can't believe you didn't even mention the 'matching tracksuits' on the enemy. Identity neurosis, like, hellloooo!1!1 does nails
