but you did and consequently end up being safer, a better way to ride.
Netherless I often make the gap smaller and smaller if I suspect someone coming up on my left from behind, until they have no choice but to either jump onto the kerbs or brake hard.
Once they appear again and about to scream at me for the 'dangerous', I tap my bag which clearly said "DEAF" which 90% of the time did shut up them up.
Then I gave them a quick kiss on the cheek and bugger off.
