maybe widely known by some, but it was my lesson for the day......
of the 16.4 Million Dutch inhabitants, there are 17 million bikes ( in Amsterdam, thats 800,000 bikes for 750,000 people) .....bikes are the most popular form of transportation by a long shot.. they are legally entitled to the right of way.
Amsterdam has 80,000 bikes stolen every year of which 25,000 end up in the canals.
