  • Price is too high and they can't really be repaired.

You'd be better off with a high end racing clincher like VeloFlex for that tubular feeling.

Wow, my biggest YTFS fail ever!

On veloflex's (pave R, master F) at the mo, with old skool latex innertubes. Nicest feeling set-up I've ever tried.

I'm going to need at least a new rear soon, and as I cant seem to find veloflex under £30 (well not the paves) (and fancy trying something new) I thought I might the clincher tubs a try.

Still trying to source some Gommitalia's. Although these look to be very similar to the veloflex.

  • The new 320tpi Vittoria Corsa Evo CX's are marginally cheaper than Veloxflex on Ribble if that helps ? Got a pair of the tub version coming which I'm looking forward to trying.

I haven't managed to find anyone who stocks Gommitalia (or Challenge) in this country. I think Ambrosio's UK distributor used to do the Gommitalia, but has stopped doing them.

  • Dolan have Challenge pista's but I don't think they are made by Gommitalia.
Half price at the moment too.

  • +1 for veloflex clinchers, got Pave's on the vintage bike and blacks on the plastic bike, both ride very cushily, even at high pressures. wear is acceptable, considering how well they grip, wet or dry.

  • Pricy vittorias and veloflex feel pretty much like tubs IMO.

  • Veloflex back on offer here....

(Got caught in the mother of all rain storms last night, and yet again I was amazed by the performance of these tyres)

  • Cheers

Found this guide, and works a treat

I love this place, just doing a google search on how to fold a pre-glued tub and this came up.

    Thanks Ste_S for sharing it.

  • thread revive.

i want some really cheap tubs for training at the track on, but what is the cheapest tub anyone knows about, three options i can see are conti giros, conti giro 2009 and vittoria rally.

am i missing anything, or does anyone have any newish ones which they arent using that they want to sell me for the same price as these other ones.

  • I bought a second-hand tub at a jumble for £3 which was fine.

  • Conti giros are rubbish by all accounts. Go for the Vittorias, they are the best cheap training tub.

+1 for the rallies, not sure if anywhere still has them for £9.99 though!

  • Don't get giros, they are not great.

    Rally, £11.25 @ Parkers.

  • if they have any left Rallys are £9.95 at decathlon

    until it punctured ;)

  • those rallys will be fine for training at HH, the pista CS I use are overkill for training but I had them for the wood in the winter.

  • thread revive number 2...

got rik's sprinters on and they are pretty nice, the rallies are good and yeah after a mistake of buying the giro's they destroy the feel, well there isn't a feel.

want some all black tyres though, something high tpi... condor seem to have some good ones but alas £65 a tyre - yowzers

  • Once revived will live forever. I'm gonna try tubs from this week and got some Tufo sealant for emergencies. Anyone use it as a prevention or better don't mess about?
