  • i think they finished for the year now but my mate said they doing a hill cllim next

  • now the evenings are getting shorter (booo!) is the thursday ride gonna kick off any earlier? seems almost dark at 8 these days...whats the opinion out there?

  • I think the plan *used *to be meet 6.30, ride at 7. This seems to have evolved into meet at 7 ride 7.30 (if we're lucky). This seems to suit persistant late-comers :)
I don't know if starting earlier would entice them to come earlier or preclude them from riding at all. Which would be a shame.

Soon it will be dark *much *earlier, so just make sure you have lights.

  • cheers greasy...i think it'll sort itself out. does the ride continue through the winter??

  • yeah untill it reaches record coldness and christmas wen everyones busy

  • In Snowy conditions we are limited to skidding down park street :)

  • for good friends, who like to smell each other!

  • Cheers for the start of the ride tonight guys.
not as much towards the end, but that was more my fault.
and thankyou for your gracious generosity Mr Fox. it is very much appreciated.

Sucks that ive been out for two weeks now, but am leaving :(
i shall see you all around christmas though, or maybe earlier at some Polo tourneys if i do my project on it! haha

    Cheers guys
    Sam

  • agree with sam you guys go too fast leave us stragglers behind :(

i blame devon though, he's just a sadist with a penchant for hills

  • To be fair we did wait at every junction , until on the way back when it got pretty strung out . I think there was a bit of an agenda to prove to Basil that we weren't slouches too. It was worth it to see him and Hayden battling it out, sprinting up granhams hill :) They left me and Devon for dead and i think Hayden just about pipped him to the crest of the hill..... epic .

  • I still reckon we should print up 4 set routes so everyone knows where we are going that evening , or does that lose all the spontaneity ? We need guidance from someone with superpowers of moderatorationanizer like Stalin

  • Who Ozram?

  • nah, i like the spontaneity. it's just if we want lots of riders out with different fitness levels, we need to know where we're going so we don't feel like we've been left behind. i.e, we're going to kingston, eversden, haslingfield, harlton, newton etc.

we talked a bit about having one or two fit riders keeping the back of the group. i remember doing a ride in the winter and i was really struggling, but barney kept me company and motivated to finish the ride. he probably didn't realise it at the time though.

  • agreed on the spontaneity and the added mystery. crack fox is right though...the front guys waited for a good while for others...plenty really...if they're happy to wait for all then i guess thats fine? would be good if someone could be designated shepherd and check on stragglers...who was that in the 'cambridge' branded lycra one-piece...he seemed to like to put the miles in!

there is also the possibility of a HTFU response but i wouldn't go there...

  • also think as the winter and darkness draws in only people who really want to ride will come out so it'll sort itself out

  • That was Basil , was his first time out with us . Normally cycles the chain gang where stranglers are uncerimonially dropped ,i explained it was a social ride but we were keen to see what pace he cycled at.

  • explains it...he tried to recruit me but i'm not sure if i've got the tackle to wear that get up

  • I think it'd be tricky on a fixed gear bike to keep up , i dunno i haven't tried though
