Hi everyone,
I’ve just sorted out some frames some of which are rather exotic and some which are bargain priced, most are suitable for singlespeed or fixed wheel use. Shipping on frames will be £11 - other items can ship free of charge in the same box.
ALL ITEMS ARE IN BRISTOL; viewing/collection is most welcome. Payment can be via bank transfer (preferred), cheque or the dreaded Paypal which costs me 3%…

COUGAR TT LO-PRO FRAME built for Chris Boardman c1991
Seat Tube (ctt): 40cm
Top Tube (ctc): 53cm
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 700C rear, 650C (26in) front
Frame tubing: Unknown
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This stunning frame finished in a black with a speckle was built by Cougar Cycles for Chris Boardman to attack several short distance time trial records c1991 before he turned professional. The fairings are not structural - they are probably fibre-glass! In one or two places there are cracks between the tubes and the fairings but nothing at all significant. This frame could be ridden with a suitable length seatpost riders of between about 5ft 6in and 6ft tall - the top top tube length is the important dimension... The vertical dropouts mean that it is not especially suitable for singlespeed or fixed use unless you manage a magic chain length. £265

GAZELLE CHAMPION MONDIAL AA ROAD FRAME c1985
Seat Tube (ctc): 57cm
Top Tube (ctc): 55cm
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531C
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 46mm
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Gazelle frames are very nicely built and this one is certainly no exception. The paint and chrome are in sound condition and with careful touching up could be used as is. The Champion Mondial AA was one of their top frames and this one even has a race number plate boss - the horizontal dropouts mean that that it is ideal as a single speed or fixed conversion. £99 SOLD

GEOFF ROBERTS ROAD FRAME c1990
Seat Tube (ctt): 58cm
Top Tube (ctc): 56cm
Rear dropout width: 125mm
Wheel size: 700C
Frame tubing: Columbus SLX
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 42mm
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Geoff Roberts is Chas Roberts brother and in the 1980s and 1990s he built some very nice frames under his own name. This frame whose paintwork is in rather poor condition is otherwise exceptionally sound with no problems - the horizontal dropouts mean that that it is ideal as a single speed or fixed conversion. £74 SOLD

MAXI SPORTS LO-PRO FRAME ex Lauret Roux Castorama 1995
Seat Tube (ctt): 58cm 54cm (ctc)
Top Tube (ctc): 51cm
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 700C rear, 650C (26in) front
Frame tubing: Columbus aluminium
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This stunning looking frame was Laurent Roux’s TT frame for his 1995 season at Castorama. This frame is absolutely gorgeous despite a few scratches to the paint and is very, very special. With vertical dropouts it is not ideal for singlespeed/fixed use unless you manage to get a magic chain length. £265

MERLIN ROAD/RANDONNEUR/AUDAX FRAME c1985
Seat Tube (ctt): 53.5cm
Top Tube (ctc): 55cm
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 700C
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531ST
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 46mm
Seatpost size: 27.0mm
Merlin frames were (maybe still are) built by Bob Jackson. This frame though built with road clearances has guard eyes and rear rack mounts - it should be possible to 23mm tyres with guards. The head lugs are really rather unusual and very attractive and the horizontal dropouts mean that that it is ideal as a single speed or fixed conversion. The paintwork is in excellent condition and has only a few small marks. £94 SOLD

RALEIGH 531 ROAD FRAME 1986
Seat Tube (ctt): 55cm
Top Tube (ctc): 55cm
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531C
Seatpin size: 27.2mm
This Raleigh 531 frame is in white primer and ready for painting - it is in very sound condition with no dents or dings - the horizontal dropouts mean that that it is ideal as a single speed or fixed conversion. But there are no forks included £39 SOLD

RALEIGH COMPETITION ROAD FRAME Reynolds 531 1986
Seat Tube (ctt): 52cm
Top Tube (ctc): 53.5cm
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531C
Seatpin size: 27.2mm
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 45mm
This Raleigh 531 frame has been nicely repainted with Fred James decals but was originally a 1984 Raleigh Competition. The shot-in seatstay attachment and the sloping fork crown are particularly attractive. The paint is in very nice condition and very useable - the horizontal dropouts mean that that it is ideal as a single speed or fixed conversion. £84 SOLD

CHAS ROBERTS TRACK FRAME ex Graham Obree Columbus Max 1994
Seat Tube (ctt): 55cm
Top Tube (ctc): 57cm
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: 700C
Frame tubing: Columbus Max
Seatpin size: 27.2mm
This frame was built by Chas Roberts for Graham Obree with Columbus Max tubing - Columbus Max tubing is both oversize and ovalised but with really thin wall thicknesses (as thin as 0.4mm on some tubes) - the net result is to make an extremely stiff frame. The detailing is stunning and the paintwork is in excellent condition with only one or two very minor marks... This is really one very special track frame. It is not drilled for brakes front or rear. £595 SOLD

ZIELEMAN ROAD FRAME c1979
Seat Tube (ctc): 56cm
Top Tube (ctc): 55cm
Rear dropout width: 125mm
Wheel size: 700C
Frame tubing: Columbus SL
Seatpin size: 27.2mm
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 45mm
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Ko Zieleman was a Dutch framebuilder from Amsterdam who was regarded as one of the best Dutch framebulders - some details can be found at http://www.classical-bicycles.com/Dutch%20racing%20bikes.htm This frame has many gorgeous details and features - just take a look at the Zs in the lugs, the seatstay top treatment and even the seatstay bridge... The paintwork and chrome are both sound but not perfect with quite a number of marks but still exceptionally useable as they are. The horizontal dropouts mean that that it is ideal as a single speed or fixed conversion. £195 SOLD
