ouch. That's not what i wanted to hear. I'm hesitant of changing these also because of serious budget limitations. Is there any workaround for a situation like this? Situation: need to get wheels built and on the road.

see what chainline your current BB gives, then compare that to the chainline on your wheel.
eg. If your current BB is say 118mm and gives a chainline of 52mm and your rear wheel has a chainline of 47mm, you need to knock 5mm off your chainline/10mm off your BB spindle length. Therefore, in this scenario you would get a new BB with a spindle length of 108mm.
