  • Hey guys
    http://www.bunchobikes.com/decal2.htm
anyone had experience with water decals on powder coat? ^ this guy says not to do it! :S

  • I think one of my decals was a water one, and they're fine... they haven't been on for ages tho.

    IMO its wortha try.

    Also see this thread

  • -.- i searched but didnt find that thread!? wtf lol! thanks for the reply :D

  • not, sure as it's a softer/thicker finish than standard wet paints.

  • I have my doubts about this. will need to check, but I would guess that the baking process for the powdercoat would melt the decal??

  • i don't think he means "before" the powder coat silly

  • lol

  • what about clearcoating afterwards?

  • Doh! my mistake, what's you worrying about then??!! it'll be fine ;)

Lol, your avatar seem very apt right now...... tsk me ;)

  • I put some waterslides on top of an armourtex job a while back. You have to clearcoat over the decals and choose a varnish that won't melt them. The problem I had was that the clearcoat had a different sheen to the powder coat gloss finish. Sorted it out by sticking old school world champ stripes over the line. Not very professional but looks nice anyhow.

    Good luck!

erm thats the reason why i posted that link at the top - he says it wont - thats why im asking how many people have had experience with it - i think i might try get some vinyl cut ones and then clearcoat over that
