Wednesday
Heavy Rain
Hmm -
• #153
find yourselves a car park.
-
• #154
i think a carpark is the best way forward, but we haven't met with much success so far.
it's all very well saying htfu, but when our best dry turnout has been 8 people, it takes a big leap of faith to drag yourself out in the pouring rain when you just know nobody else is going to show up...
-
• #155
ha, just edited that out as i thought it was harsh.
hope your scene continues to grow and you get more players dude.
-
• #156
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I'm gonna be in town early so I'll ask around some car parks.
-
• #157
I'm up for it, as long as I'm back in time for Shooting Stars.
As my old PE teacher used to say, skin is "impermeable".

• #158
good work, ben. i'm desperate to play.
i can't believe nobody has any leads on possible carparks/covered spaces...
-
• #159
what about at the end of fletchers walk, under paradise circus?
edit: i though there was a big bit before the slope, now I'm not so sure....

I'm not really into the dogging scene myself

i used to skate at the nia as a nipper - no sign of security then... anyone been down there recently?
-
• #162
AHA! Lots of people go get drunk in the NIA, I know because I went for a couple of cans with some of my 'punk' mates. No security, there were Heorin users in there though.
-
• #163
^sounds like a plan
-
• #164
The NIA was rubbish for skating, some of my friends were actually 'cough cough' rollerbladers who seemed to get on with it better.
Maybe alright for polo though, but city centre is a bit of a mission for poor Fin to lug the Mallets too in comparison to Calthorpe park which is just down the road from him.

It's not that much further, and its dry. Someone phone me tonight to let me know where you're gonna be and I'll come down and do some shoe ting.
-
• #167
hello everyone first post and all. i will be well up for car park polo tonight. ive been meaning to come for months but i keep getting dragged into work (because i need the money, being a student)
i spoke to fin yesterday in the town and he said to come along tonight. only problem is i will be on my way back from nottingham at 6ish so i will have to meet up with you guys a bit later.
would someone be able to drop me a text letting me know where you guys are? 07751879626 -

i think fin is busy tonight, so no access to mallets/balls as far as i can see. i've got one, but i don't think anyone else has, and also no balls....
maybe next week?
-
• #169
Sorry peeps.
I found out in the last couple of days our landlord wants us to move out a bit early (tomorrow!?) + the fact we have nowhere to live at the moment.
None of us drive or have someone that can drive a car/van so I'm lugging my stuff by bike and will be sleeping in on a living room floor until we get a place.I will endeavour to play next week
edit; We've got someone to drive.
-
• #170
Shit dude I hope you get your tings sorted soon.
-
• #171
Obviously I meant for your own good not for the benefit of people who want to play polo!
-
• #172
I think we should all get a ball/mallet each, A. cos it's a bit rough on Fin to expect him to do everything and B. it means if he doesn't come we can't play. I'm happy to buy a couple of balls and I'll make some mallets when I get the drill back, but shall we play in the NIA carpark next week regardless of weather? Worth it for winter months.
-
• #173
Ive always thought that about mallets to. We should all get our own asap that way we do not have to depend on a single weekly date. We can organise games with each other any number of times a week depending on whos available and what the weather is like.
-
• #174
definitely agree with the ball/mallet situation, although i think if it's dry we'd be stupid not to go to calthorpe park. it's got a boundary and lighting after all. the nia should only be a 'b' destination i reckon, and i also think far fewer people will show up if/whenever we play there due to the aforementioned drunk punks, heroin addicts and cliff richard fans...
-
• #175
Yes, NIA should be a B destination, but it's worth going next week to scout it out as much as anything, ie it's worth knowing we can actually play there, otherwise we might all go there when it's next tipping down and find that we can't play.
okay, i can see that this isn't going to happen any time soon. £50 is a whole lotta dorra, and i appreciate that even if we did do it, half of the time it would be dry and everyone would just be bitter that we weren't down the road at cheddar lane.
maybe it will prove to be worthwhile during the winter. although the reason i suggested it was to have something regular and reliable; it's annoying that half of our 'regular, weekly' nights are rained off or effectively rained off because it pisses it down from 8am til 6.30pm and then miraulously dries up and only shamim shows up.
i've half persuaded and half dissuaded myself..
