My roadie SS is set up with 48:17 which is fine for most stuff. It came with 48:16 (81") which I also liked but I broke 2 freewheels and when I got a decent one they only had 17 in stock.
On my normal geared (is that a dirty word round here?) road bike my normal cruising gear is 53:19.
