the thing is most aussies are pro-republic, but in the last referendum we were forced to vote on a specific model of republic, which ended up splitting the republican movement into "those who want this sort of republic" and "those who want a republic but not THIS sort of republic". sneaky.
any australian under 55 with a brain knows that australia should be a republic. i predict another referendum in the next government term.
