  • ok. Lets get the ball rolling on this.

    Who's in for this week?

    Inner circle
    10 laps clockwise
    10 laps anti
    Sprint every 5th lap

    40 laps
    5:30 start?

  • If I ever recover from this cold/flu thing which has kept me off my bike for over a week now, I will be there!

  • that sounds like a good start Marco. I'll be there this week, have been recovering from a cold myself. Lets bump this tomorrow(tues) sometime.

  • Is everybody running off-road tyres now or something? I went round the inner circle today and it's bumpy as hell. I preferred doing laps of the outer ring anti-clockwise. I was going for 18mph av. the whole way, but there was a guy who was using it to train by sprinting the slight uphill and then relaxing off on the down.

I'd love to get involved but 5.30 is a little on the early side for me. I may perhaps be able to make it.

  • Need to get the legs going again. Should be almost fully recovered by Wednesday. 5.30 start is good, guess we should check out the road surfaces and traffic levels when we get there and see what's best? Could throw in a lap or 2 of Swains Lane / West Hill afterwards for those heading North. Will use my usual gear with this in mind

  • been recovering from a cold myself.

Was it a really blocked up/coughing sort of cold. Thats what I had. Pretty crap

  • My understanding is you need a £3k plus bike and wear at least £500 worth of Assos to be accepted in Regent's Park....

That's their first mistake, second one is actually using it for proper training

  • Yep, I thought it was going to be over in a couple of days, but then the cough went on for nearly 2 weeks and was much worse at night.

5.30 is gonna be too early for me, but will see. 6.30 is more like a time I can get out.

Shunned last time you were there? Poor chap.. don't they know who you are?!
Maybe take cliveo with you and he can get you a guest pass or something. :)

Yes I was, I was in baggies with mtb shoes...they didn't like getting roared off, still at least I had shaved legs...

  • Are you guys suggesting we will be ridiculed by serious roadies?

  • Are you guys suggesting we will be ridiculed by serious roadies?

Yes... all you need to remember is this modified football chant (works best when beating them up hills) "one gear! I've only got one gear, I've only got one gear, one gear.. etc"

  • Well it's about time we get a group of scruffy herberts out there to embarass them roadie west London types, innit!
    BTW, i'll be on 81"

Most of the times I've been there in the last 3 years has been in a t-shirt + mtb shorts, usually riding my fixed commuter. Everyone gets passed. Cervelo TT boys must hate that.
I'm sure there's some fast guys riding really early in the morning though. I used to see them finishing up when I worked on Baker st.

    You'd smoke all/most of them so I wouldn't worry.

"Let the legs do the talking"

I'm a roadie west London type. Don't confuse west London with Regents Park.

  • See now I feel really shit. I was being passed by most of the roadies today. I'm going to blame it on my poor saddle and low gear choice.

  • I can blame any lack of performance for the next 6 months on total dedication to doing fuck all training :)

I'm not. That would be Richmond park. Nice park, shame about the posh scum.

  • I'm up for this, but same as TT Tom, 6.30pm is a more civilised time.....some of us* have real jobs!!!#

    • - not me!

    Err.. sure.

  • Ah right, so pinch point = where cockfiend in car squeezes innocent cyclist into horrible gutter + bollard crash? Sounds like a great traffic calming measure.

This is the stupidest invention ever. It's all about forcing traffic jams from the high roads into the residential streets. Even more annoying, if there's also a bus route.

  • This sounds good tom. Too early for me though. Back to Richmond park for me.

  • Is this trackie training or just general, come one, come all, training?
