Is it a senior?
I got a junior and it's like sawing with spaghettiAlso did anyone get/have sam or joe's number? Would like to make sure they're aware its** 7:30** not 6:30 now.

• #130
yeah its a senior one
its got a hollow aluminium frame (like my bike!) and is a bit flexy (unlike my bike!) but ive been using it to cut down steel bmx handlebars which are tough heat-treated chromoly... got through them EASY with an old, damaged blade because i couldn't be bothered to swap it for a new one. should do the job even easier with ali ski poles
i'm not sure where i got it from now, it was ages ago... definitely one of those cheapo shops by the markets in digbeth... the one on edgbaston street that sells hardware stuff

Meet you Monday?
We could 'liberate' some bikes too, I've heard people talk about these 'fixies' the kids have been riding apparently you have to be a power nerd or massive hipster to ride one, so let's get some of them. Also, you up for a polo shoot?
-
• #132
with the hacksaw?
yeah i've been up for a polo shoot since day one but keep forgetting!!! or it rains. now that its been put back to 7:30 i should have time to get home, eat then come back out.
definitely wanna do it with lights, i have problems taking photos in natural light. unless its awesome natural light then i cant get motivated to shoot anything

You could probably pick up a hacksaw for pennies from the car boot/markets at the wholesale markets on sunday morning, there's always loads of hardware places there.

YO
What's the crack with the covered B-ball pitch on Gooch Street then, did anyone check it out?
Or are there any indoor car parks we can definitely get away with playing in? I really wanna come down and shoot a bit, regardless of the shitty weather forecast.

i emailed them yesterday, but haven't heard anything. it seems like a prerequisite that these kind of 'community spaces' are weirdly managed.
i don't know of any prospective carparks, but am very keen to get something sorted. perhaps some kind of person with an intimate knowledge of both cycling and the city centre can scout something out?
are there any large bridges similar to the one by sprockets but with a very quiet road and no cobbles? anyone had any experience of bribing carpark security guards?
-

I personally wont be able to make it, sorry, but i've promised to meet a good friend.
Will still provide all the shit tho.
Car park security in the city centre aren't wankers, but they'll always chuck you out. -

There are some (2 maybe) disused tennis/basketball courts opposite the main entrance to birmingham university medical school, 30 seconds from the train station - the security aren't really that intense either, might be worth checking out.
-
• #139
are they covered?

okay: just got off the blower with the guy from st martins' (the covered football court on gooch/bishop street in highgate).
it is available wednesday nights - open until 10pm latest.
it costs £12.50 per hour, however there's a £75 deposit (returnable), and a £6 fee per booking.
he says it usually works with a block of bookings although there is no minimum, really.
my question is: would anyone be willing to stump up a set amount, say £50, in order for us to book out a set amount of weeks? my arithmetic isn't very good, so i'm not going to figure out exact prices until i gauge some interest.
to my knowledge, the best turnout has been 8 people on a wednesday night, although if it was not weather-dependent, maybe we could get a maximim of 9/10 people (9 would be ideal - three teams of three). i reckon 7-10pm would be good.
if there were 10 people, each contributing £50, that makes £500. minus £81 fees = £419. £419/£12.5 per hour = 33.5 hours of play, which = 11 weeks of polo at the end of which you'd get £7.50 back if we don't smash the place up.
payday is around the corner - let's do this!

come one anybody? nobody? - pastry lover? hyper? whatever chris' avatar is if he has an avatar? blowie?
sure it's a fair old whack up-front, but a definite weekly game could be what we need to push the birmingham polo scene to the next level. we could always do additional games at calthorpe park when it's dry and enough people come down on another night.
with four more people we would have a regular 6-person night, which would only warrant 2 hours, and would work out at roughly the same price, perhaps...

£50 isnt even much but I can't put my name down until I see how much I get paid in September. Got to spend a lot bike and photo stuff so I'm not sure I'll have anything left... I'll see though.

Having only played 1 game and yet to hit a ball with both intent and accuracy (the second's the big problem) + school starting again, not sure I'm up to commiting to regular games, esp until 10pm (teacher bedtimes are very early - it rocks to be me).
Up for a match next wednesday though. -

Wouldn't we be better off just bribing a car park security guard? ie we keep playing at the BB courts and then if it's raining go to a car park instead? tbh, I just think it'd be very easy for big financial commitments to go sour (ie, people coming along who haven't payed etc etc). I'll be in town on wednesday anyway so if someone wants to ask around some car parks, agree to slip them a few quid, give them some drugs, suck them off etc.
I NEED THIS...
AND (OLD) THIS...
TO MAKE THESE...
PLEASE!THANKYOU!
