okay: just got off the blower with the guy from st martins' (the covered football court on gooch/bishop street in highgate).
it is available wednesday nights - open until 10pm latest.
it costs £12.50 per hour, however there's a £75 deposit (returnable), and a £6 fee per booking.
he says it usually works with a block of bookings although there is no minimum, really.
my question is: would anyone be willing to stump up a set amount, say £50, in order for us to book out a set amount of weeks? my arithmetic isn't very good, so i'm not going to figure out exact prices until i gauge some interest.
to my knowledge, the best turnout has been 8 people on a wednesday night, although if it was not weather-dependent, maybe we could get a maximim of 9/10 people (9 would be ideal - three teams of three). i reckon 7-10pm would be good.
if there were 10 people, each contributing £50, that makes £500. minus £81 fees = £419. £419/£12.5 per hour = 33.5 hours of play, which = 11 weeks of polo at the end of which you'd get £7.50 back if we don't smash the place up.
