  • you would realise DW is a guy that has done more for cycling than most

This is strictly true, insofar as that anybody who has manufactured any kind of cycling good has done more for cycling than most. There are 6 billion people in the world, and perhaps fewer than a million of them do anything 'for' cycling. However, a small frame builder who just happens to have started a show for a few other small frame builders and some boutique component makers hasn't really done much for cycling. The NAHBS is very insular, and if you don't buy into its style in a big way, it's pretty irrelevant in terms of global cycling. In fact, it has very little to do with cycling at all; it's really just a circle jerk for people making art objects in the shape of bicycles. I know there are some people here who think that anything which appears at NAHBS is de facto porn, but I'm not buying it. Don Walker and his ilk are about as important to cycling as Bristol are to the motor industry - an interesting side show, possibly pretty, maybe even successful in fulfilling a particular performance brief, but hugely over priced for what they are, and too small to be significant. The people who are* really *doing something for cycling are the far Eastern engineers who have brought a level of performance not even available to professionals 20 years ago to bikes which can be bought with one week's wages today.
