For me riding a fixed wheel 700c bike barely uses calves at all. Especially in comparison to riding mtb's & bmx's with lower gears and lower saddles/standing up. Getting up steep hills while mtb'ing really burns the calves and shins.

Ive got massive thighs and pretty small calves, may stick a pic up its quite a sight.

Like a baby learning to walk, i'm still struggling to get the hang of this fixed melarcy. I'm getting there but i've noticed slightly stiff/sore calves. Because i'm no longer freewheeling, I am using those calf muscles a lot more - or am i just a wuss.

Nothing that a wire brush and dettol wont cure!

Back on topic....I heard the cure for AIDS was just to HTFU and get over it.

Calpol, & milk of magnesia work well. But HTFU is best.

The whole AIDS thing is bloody difficult to keep tabs on though.

Back in the '80s we only ever had gay-AIDS and drug-AIDS ... you really really didn't want to go dying of gay-aids.

Now we have Pig-AIDS, Chicken-AIDS, Calf-AIDS and Unipack-AIDS etc etc
