56 riders abandoned leaving only 47 to finish.
While this is, prima facie, understandable in the conditions, spare a thought for the crowds who came in number and braved the appalling conditions to watch a race that was cut from three to two circuits of Cork City. With the likes of Armstrong and Cavendish pulling out, they must have felt rather short changed as must the sponsors.
