Cheers sniffy. My post says exactly what I'm looking for - a bastard file. Hippy's link above explains what that is.
I'm in E Dulwich too so I'll PM you to have a look at what you've got.
p.s. I don't need any cunting sandpaper :-)

Bastard file wont be no good for a dropout, are you making the dropout bigger? A 2nd cuts the harder steel better.

So what is a bastard file in the end?
-
• #21
A bit like a cunt rasp
-
• #22
a very rough file (with no father)
-
• #23
Is a bastard file any good for filing down the bumps on a top tube that used to hold the brake cable wires?
-
• #24
No dont use a bastard file for anything on a bike its too rough a 2nd cut is best for most jobs then emery cloth.
-
• #25
OK - general consensus seems to be to use a 2nd cut so big thanks.
Shame really as I was quite looking forward to getting myself to the DIY store and asking if they had a flat bastard.
Need to file some dropouts - anyone have a bastard file* I can borrow? SE area ideally.
