I have a question along these lines and it seems daft to start a new thread.
New forks bought, tried fitting the bottom race - no joy. The OD of the fork is larger than the ID of the race. Went to LBS to see if they could fit the race with the correct tool - no joy, fork is too large for this particular headset race. So I got them to pull a 1" headset off the shelf to check that one - it was a Shimano 105. This also had an ID that was too small for the forks. So, does anyone know which headsets have a larger ID on the bottom race? Or do I have to get the bottom race seat reamed down to the right diameter? Apparently there is a tool that can do this but they didn't have one.
