  • I'm arranging a night-time mountain biking trip, and I need some powerful lights.

I've been looking at a MagLite handlebar mount, but I'm not sure it will hold. Does anybody have some serious lights I could borrow for the day, just to see if I want to invest in my own?

  • Speak to ScottnotScot

  • Thats weird.

  • what's weird?

  • if you intend on doing much of this type of riding, Hope 2 L.E.D is great, and you never need buy batteries again, helmet or bar mount supplied (sounds like im selling them dosent it?)seriously powerful lights, not cheap (4 L.E.D even more) but worth it.
    whats the event im curious?

  • If you decide to buy these are getting really good reviews at the minute. http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.25149 Pretty cheap for the retina tearing performance they offer. I have a P7 Cree Led torch from the same site with a twofish adaptor for the bars, works well and if not riding you have a super powerful torch! The Hope/lumicycle/Alfine lights are good but if you are not going to use them all the time I am not sure they are worth the money.

  • for pure oh-my-god-its-a-ufo blindingness (at commensurate price):

    exposure maxx-d

  • what's weird?

    You, Me, everything?

  • It appears aygo are no more. Site closed.

  • I'm writing a feature on night-time riding, so I need to have a go. It's not an organised ride, just some mates in the forest. On a budget smaller than £300, though...

What do you think to this? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13353

  • come to bridges tonight. night riding at its best.

guess it depends on what type of night time riding you are writing about,
the light you posted may get you seen in traffic and be good for roads, which is all good.
if you want to batter down trails at full speed then you need to invest in something thats gonna do the job.

    cough - TNRC - cough

  • Pop over to the Audax UK site , there are loads of pages on lighting there

Also have a look at the YACF site for DIY/ Bodge soloutions...

Aygo is a Toyota. Ayup are the Aussie light manufacturer.

  • They've decided to distribute solely from Oz again, is all.

  • Good, atleast I can still get some. My brothers one are fantastic, well done Australia.

  • "I made them myself"

  • With a litle help from your friends.

  • Just don't want to buy before I've tried, really. Especially at those prices. That's why I was hoping some generous forumenger would be able to lend me something nice and bright...

  • Definitely speak to Scott then, especially if he thinks you're pretty.

The owner is in Australia, although I recall reading he migrated from England. The name of the lights was his link back to his country of origin.

I have been very impressed with my AyUp lights. On night rides the clean white light outperforms all other lights.
