Just thought Pink Earls Court jumped to conclusions.....
Is Earls Court a pink place then?
1+ althought that does not mean you have to cycle in a defensive manner, just with extra precaution is all that needed.
least you realise that it's your own fault and accept it, just put it down to experience of which you've surely gained.
64cm?? bloody hell, I do feel for you, keep looking in the classified section as well as the ebay/craiglist topic as I'm pretty sure you'll find a replacement.
failing that, just concentrate on looking for a replacement fork, threaded or threadless it doesn't matter as long it's 1" and long enough for your headtube (that if your frame appear to be fine, i.e. the tubing near the headtube aren't slighty bend, which can be hard to spot).
The frame's pretty old (70s) and the cost of getting it properly checked out would probably exceed the value of the frame. I do want it checked properly, my face is too pretty to stack hard onto when my headtube detaches from the frame... I'm also pretty hefty, so I can't afford to take chances with little cracks and stuff, they'd be huge cracks pretty quickly.
The headtube is so ridiculously long that I really need to find a 1" fork with an uncut, or at least super-long steerer. My tap and die set doesn't go up as far as 1", so i'd have to pay bikefix or someone to chop it to length and thread it. Again, probably exceeding the value of the frame.
Stop making sensible suggestions, I want to buy a new frame!
There may well be a huge frame with bent forks available on the forum later this week.
New question: is it morally acceptable to sell it to a hipster as a "super-rare close clearance vintage frame"?
