plastic bag gets wet too, it'd make more sense if they'd remove it before ride.
"looks awesome" - that must be some fashion, no questions about it. which one is more stylish and practical? tesco, morrisson or maybe iceland?hides stupidly expensive and rain-averse perch and makes entire contraption look a bit shit and dufferish, hopefully detering opportunist thievery of both seating area and entire cycle. a bit like putting a tartan blanket, box of tissues and homburg on the parcel shelf of your car.
i'm fed up with spds. they make skidding and enthusiastic acceleration up-hill nervy. my stinky mtb shoes are stinky and due for replacement so i'm interested in pedal talk too.

Shimano M540s for a geared bike though? cheap, reliable, look nice...?

Whatever happened to ATAC XEs? I've got a pair, and I remember buying them because they were about as cheap as aliums, but almost as light as XSs, only without the superfluous tension adjustment, and the sprung bars were steel instead of aluminium.
I like aliums. The axles are waaaaaaaay stiff, and they last forever unless you're a sad excuse for a cyclist.

Original offroad SPD's PD-M737's- cracking! Been riding one pair since 1991, not a single problem, put a NOS pair on me Bowery, and they'll go on my Kalavinka when I get some stinkin' wheels for it!
