Everytime I see them I think Doofus.

What is a boarder line pedo? Someone who counts down they days until you girls and boys are 16?

  • Charge Plug at Northampton station this morning with one of the most cut down straight bars, giving just enough room either side for your hands.

Does that not make steering just a little bit sketchy??

However they were bigger than these bad boys..

    Thats not a plug.

I done OK on narrow bars in the sprints earlier this year. I guess its how you ride your bike.

    Sorry read fail.

  • If your bars are less than 34cm you must be a twat, a racist and very likely a peedo

Fuck handlebars. I just grip the stem.

    With my teeth

  • My bars are 64-65cm, wide load coming through!

  • brakeless without clips too. Welcome to the danger zone.

    coaster brake identification fail

My friend has a double page spread of the sun newspaper in a glass frame on his wall on one page it has "Ian Huntly sick paedophile preyed on young girls" and on the opposite the page "Charlotte Church is looking Chest Swell" and has a count down till she's 16... ipso facto if you have small bars you read The Sun.

Definitely more to do with your legs than your bars mate....

    ;)

  • Which shows your comment was wrong then as you clearly can still sprint with narrow bars.

    That shit's fucked up.

I remember hearing about some website that was counting down until some American twin teen actors turned 16. Creepy.

You could sprint with flat tyres, doesn't mean you couldn't do it a whole lot better with air in them.

I was being glib, though I stand by the point mostly.

Would be 18 in America though, no?

I totally whooped everyone on narrow bars in the sprints earlier this year, and i'm so fucking fast I skidded through the finish line in the finals.
I guess its how you ride your bike.

Fixed, Jim you're a beast on two wheels dude ;)

  • My bars are 64-65cm, wide load coming through!

Yeah, mine must be about that size - straight bars, straight out of the shop onto the bike, haven't had the time to cut them down yet.

I'm intending to bring them down to shoulder width, for max riding comfort. But I reckon I'll do it after I change the saddle and see what my new riding position is like first.

Glad I'm not some kind of sexual-deviant freak with super-narrow bars though. Now I'll know what to tell my children look out for when trying to decide whether strangers who talk to them in the park are nonces or not...

Again though your point doesn't stand as Jim won the drag sprints, on his narrow bars.
You said narrow bars =No sprints so which part of that comment was actually right?

Haha that is shoulder width for me!

  • Jim's bars are not that narrow though, as you can see in the pic.

I suppose they are narrow compared to uncut risers, but they are 28" for downhilling and even most mtb'ers cut an inch or two off. Jim's bars are no narrower than the tops of a set of drop bars, in fact they are probably wider. That makes perfect sense if you want to run bars like that.

It just makes me laugh when people try to argue practical uses for something clearly chosen for looks, like saying holding around the stem (like that idiotic bike up there^^) is better for riding in traffic, or that an aerospoke is chosen because it's easier to get a lock through. Balderdash.

  • Who gives a fuck about narrow bars.

Too many people on this forum care too much about other peoples bikes.
