I'm interested in more of what Polka has to say about Beth Ditto, fat people and thin people.. it seems from only four posts there may be an underlying rant just waiting to peek its little head out?
To be honest, Mechamorgan said it better than I could (except for the bit about having a thing for skinny girls).
If it's wrong to objectify women because they are ultra-skinny, then it's wrong to objectify women because they're fat.
I guess it gets to me because I'm American. I got tired of the anti-thin 'big is beautiful' backlash that started happening, courtesy of people like Oprah Winfrey, etc. It's one thing to say you shouldn't obsess about trying to replicate an unobtainable weight or shape (and base your entire worth on looking like some waif in a magazine), but it's another to say 'it's okay that you're 5'3" tall and weigh 200 lbs. You're a real woman.'
That shit is dangerous. Americans always look for reasons to excuse the way they live. It's always someone else's fault. Or it's your 'metabolism' or your 'genes.' How about putting down the fucking 1/2 pounder with bacon and large fries... and getting some fucking exercise?
