  • don't follow. oh the date of the op? whatever.

  • ed- the term clipless refers to the lack of a "toe clip" that you would use with straps. theres no toe clip so theyre clipless.

i love clipless pedals so much that i would reccomend them to beginners over clips/straps any day. it might be more hastle to carry an extra pair of shoes but its well worth it. the dnb shoes from wiggle + some cheap shimano pedals cost feck all, and are miles better than these silly expensive double straps that fixed riders adore. and they cost less!

  • I find it's pretty ironic that the 'clipless' pedal need to be 'clipped' in to connect your shoes to the pedal, whether the 'clip' pedal only need to push your feet in the toeclips, there's no 'clips' really, just tightening the strap to secure your feet in the pedal.

Like rain on your wedding day, eh Ed?

  • Like rain on your wedding day, eh Ed?

Actually i reckon it's more like a green light when your already late.

  • Or a no-smoking sign on your cigarette break?

  • An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
    Isn't it ironic ... don't you think
    Chorus

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought ... it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids good-bye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
    'Well isn't this nice...'
And isn't it ironic ... don't you think
    Repeat Chorus

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
    In your face

It's a traffic jam when you're already late
It's a no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic... don't you think
A little too ironic... and yeah I really do think...
    Repeat Chorus

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
    Helping you out

  • Right, thats put a stop to that rubbish then!

    ;)

  • Theres too much Alanis on this forum.

  • Too right. We need some Muse!

  • Have I mentioned that I am not partial to the work of Muse?

  • ANYTHING is better than Alanis Morrisette though. Even Mogwai.

I think just the once ;)

  • Alanis Morrisette makes me want to ride down a really steep hill on flat pedals :(

  • I couldn't believe how weird it felt to ride on flats after being used to SPD's...I've put flats on the s/s commuter as I do get annoyed when you have to unclip at traffic lights (I need more track standing practice ;) )

  • Fitted my new pedals today (clips & straps), first impressions is they're a pain up the arsehole to get into, as they don't have that flipper bit on them.

Need to learn to track stand better. Downhill though they are great and I feel more confident on hills.

Really like the actual pedals tho, good size and shape :)

Wait till it rains! I always managed without the flipper bit until it rained. So hard to flip them round when they're wet and slippy.

Yeh, that's a good point, I can imagine it being nigh on impossible in fact. Hmmm, maybe I can 'engineer' something that will clip on to make it easier.

I did notice that you can actually buy MKS flippers that screw on, but Wiggle sold out. Maybe I should use that google site thingy.

  • I can perform a fairly decent bunnyhop on flats so know that you can grip the pedals when you need to, but clipless still wins it by miles in my view.

bunny hops have little to do with foot grip really. being an ex bmxer i used to ride worn out flats with no pins and bunny hop happily.

  • @Pman tie a large zip tie round the back of your pedal with the lumpy bit sticking out. Cut off excess obviously. Use that bit as a flipper.

    I hope that makes sense.

    Cool, thanks man.
