yes, rear drop out, aka horizontal drop out make sense, also Sheldon Brown (google) should able to help you, the chainline is usually depend on the crankset thought, some crank need 111mm, and some need just 103mm.
singlespeed or fixed wheel, it's still the same, don't worry.
