Heya, looking for a 2nd build for myself, would anyone be so kind to tell me anything you know about this bicycle, i know there is no information to go along with the photo but id hope one of you out there has some guru knowledge on random bicycles.
its been listed as "Columbus Delta"
ive search the web for a while but ive not been able to find anything
Thanks. -

I thought I might find answers on an old thread http://www.londonfgss.com/thread1450.html
but the columbus tubing chart isn't coming up for me from the link supplied - has it moved? also the columbus website is more about now than vintage -
so I thought maybe it might be useful to start pooling our knowledge about Columbus, steel at least, seeing as there are lots of juicy variants? anyone up for trying to grade them, in terms of quality or use/appropriateness? I think it would be a useful thread.
As a start there's a link I found to a 2003 web page for a frame builder.. http://www.terrafermacycles.com/tubesets/columbus/columbus_tubesets.htm
by the way Max your "Zona" is listed here..

I remember a while ago I was saying how useful it would be to have a chart of every different tubing listed and compared, i.e. Reynolds 631 is comparable to says COM 12.5 double butted (as far as I've notice in term of weight).

the link from the old post seems to be working fine. maybe try it again:

i.e. Reynolds 631 is comparable to says COM 12.5 double butted (as far as I've notice in term of weight).
it's density and youngs modulus would be the same so if the tube dimensions were the same the stiffness of the tubes would be identical. it's the tensile strength/KSI that enables a thinner tube or a larger o/d to be used (to build a lighter or stronger frame). the tube dimensions dictate stiffness.

Would be useful to have perhaps a chart with columbus, reynolds, vitus, tange etc side by side to illustrate which tubesets are of comparable grade. e.g. What reynolds tubeset would be comparable to Columbus sl. It would certainly help less clued up people figure out whether a frame theyve seen on the bay is a good deal or not.

Hi
I accidentally bought this:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270455514424&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT on ebay, without doing any research. I may be able to worm out of it, but does anyone know if it is any good or not?I've looked everywhere for info on Columbus Altec Tubing, but i found nothing.

7000 series alu is fine and dandy. No idea about the bike you got though other than it has vertical dropouts = not so nice for fixing but you paid £40 = who cares? Build it, ride it and if you don't like it, sell it.
