  • This weekend, we had lots of people coming along and playing for the first time, and lots of us lent them bikes/mallets, and that's fine. We all did the same when we first played.

What I don't really like is people turning up time after time borrowing my shit, and even just walking up to my bike and not asking and getting it on the court. It's not on. You're best to learn to play on your own bike, and it really doesn't take that much effort to make a mallet. There are lots of people that can tell you how, or just google it. It's not rocket science.

Don't get me wrong, it's cool to borrow stuff the first couple of times you come along to play, but beyond that, I think the onus is on you to build a mallet and if needs be, build a polo bike. We've all done it.

I hope that wasn't addressed to me, I did use your bike a few times on Saturday, but I think I asked every time. As I understood it on Saturday that was sort of the point, that the beginners could come down, and would have use of the bike, which is why people probably did use bikes without asking (not saying it's right, but probably why it happened).

Yesterday there were less noobs though, just me and Wen, or am I am wrong? Maybe I missed something.

Either way, apologies if I did use a bike without permission (though I can't remember it), and I've now got my own mallet (thanks to Mike for giving me the head), with a few more on the way, and I'm going to start looking for bike or bits to put together. Which brings me to my next question. Does any have a polo bike or polo-suitable frame which they want to sell?
