There is no personal malice on the part of the police, they do not go out of the way to cause problems, it is only that this is the way their operational procedure is designed.
Anything - absolutely anything - you say will likely be use against you - this is not a controversial view, any lawyer will tell you to shut your mouth if approached by a police officer - even if you are 'innocent'.
Kids, never speak to an officer, if they ask you for your details, politely decline.
