why exactly?

Its all gone a bit mental, the 'lympics. It needs to get back to its roots. I'd much rather watch two oily greek men wrestling in the nude than most of the tripe currently passed off as sports.
+1. Though they don't have to be Greek, just good looking.

I'd get rid of football too. It's a joke if you like football and a boring non-event if you don't.
And running. If you want to go fast get a bike. -

Swimming is for kids who were too crap to get picked for teams in ball sports.
this is also true.

Can an activity show dismay?

To be fair, they just have to be "not ugly".
this is also true.
I know... I have a 4 km gold swimming certificate.
fuck my childhood.

How the fuck is Golf a proper sport? It's dressing up in shit clothes, going for a walk and hitting a ball miles with a stick. Any sport that someone the shape of John Daly can compete at the top level is not a sport.
What next? Olympic darts? That's why it's the Olympic games and not the Olympic Sports..

Golf is in the Olympics?

ffs, I've only just started training and EVERYTHING
can someone tell me who I can write a furious letter to? I am good on gender equality stuff, I reckon I can convince them.
I can get you in to the office for the 2012 games, though it wont be with an invite...

My cat was crap at football, but he really enjoys swimming. It really changed his life.

will you monkey up the drainpipe?

scrap all Olympic events where you dont have to get sweaty. if your not sweaty your not trying and if your not trying its not athletic.
all the ones where you wear silly clothes and ride horses and all the ones where you have to shoot things are a waste of time and take up valuable resources from the velodrome!

Golf is in the Olympics?
Golf and Rugby 7s were chosen to be put forward for olympic inclusion. Neither will be at 2012 though

Good point.
Right, changed tack. let's ban all sports from the games. From now-on there will be only British Bulldog, Ker-Plunk, bridge, hide-and-seek, chess and snakes and ladders. -

There must be something out there like it somewhere. If tiddlywinks has one then everything must

Weren't the original games based on war or combat type events of things that helped in that regard. ie: wrestling/javelin/running/weight lifting ect. I say get rid of all the rubbish and get back to that. Unfortunately it means even cycling gets cut. But more emphasis on world championshp events and such.
FFS, when did golf ever have anything to do with "olympics" just rubbish.

Random fact of the day, did you know that many top olympic lifters have ridiculously high vertical jumps thanks to the nature of the explosive power they develop through training/competing as olympic lifters :)
They have ridiculously high vertical jumps because they spent most of their childhood trying to reach the biscuits and cakes that their mum had to move to the top cupboard because they were such fat little fuckers!

Have you ever tried Olympic lifting with anything like a reasonable amount of weight?
Its really tricky, and requires massive explosive power, and excellent technique.....sounds like a sport to me.
