  • Riding fixed is probably better for you as you have to stand up more often, relieving any pressure and allowing the blood to flow normally.

    People in the thread tend to disagree with that, but I remember reading on Sheldon Brown an article about the "superiority of saddles with no padding or leather saddles, blah blah blah... It says that you should not rely on your saddles to absorb shocks but on your legs tension. It you are coasting on a geared bike or single speed, you would presumably release the pressure/tension in your legs and therefore all shocks would be taken on the saddle. I assume then that if you are riding a fixed bike, you always have to keep your legs in motion/tension and they would take the shocks, but not/less your ass on the saddle, so maybe fixed this is better on that ground?
