How in 1989 did lemond set the record for the fastest ever average speed (54.5km/h) on shitty aerobars and a helmet which it has been calculated actually slowed him down.
And ALL the drug taking pro's since, including armstrong, on 4th generation PEGylated, recombinant epo cannot beat that time??
I thought Dave Zabriskie holds the fastest Tour TT speed record?
Just goggled it and yep: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Tour_de_France

Lance Armstrong never doped but he once stole a pack of gingernuts from his local supermarket.
Lemond and I used to do lines of charlie off the tits of his stripper friends.
Kimmage was once bummed in a south London club and confirmed he enjoyed it.It's all true since, now, it's on the internetz.

Yes, but it's not on thehippy.net.

Says so on the internet ^^

it appears that the scientist who wrote a paper detailing the reasons for his increased efficiency was crap at maths and all his calculations were wrong, he then withheld the data when people started to question his methods.
*The Coyle paper appeared in the middle of a legal action against SCA Promotions, a company that had insured Armstrong’s team against paying a $5 million bonus if he won the 2004 Tour. After Armstrong’s victory, SCA refused to honor the team’s claim, arguing that it suspected drug use by Armstrong. *
*After Armstrong and his team’s holding company sued, SCA ultimately settled out of court. *http://www.sportsscientists.com/2008/09/coyle-armstrong-research-installment-2.html

"But Armstrong never tested positive" and so it goes in another endless loop, much like rlj, h_lm_t debates, etc.

yes, but do you love him or hate him? i only visited this thread cos clintsmoker said bmmf made a funny about lance/neil armstrong and buzz/jan ulrich, but nonetheless i have enjoyed it.
i like lance armstrong. he seems to have ridden his bike pretty fast over the last decade and won the bike race that most of us treasure the most. if he has doped then he hasn't been caught, which is all i ask of those that dope. so good on him either way. unlike lots of other riders i have found exhilirating to watch over recent times (vino, rasmussen, landis, etc) armstrong hasn't let me down.

I enjoyed the 2003 TdF. So much so, that due to late nights, too much coffee, very hot weather, and the constant thrills/possibility of Ullrich or Beloki winning, I had a major Tourettic relapse.
Cycling was what made me tic that summer.
Armstrong was an essential part of the pantomime. Apart from that, and the 1999 edition, I've not particularly enjoyed his presence. And, as you all know, I couldn't give a shit whether he doped or not*.
*of course he fucking did, just like everyone else.

I got so bored of the tour when Lance was in it. Conversely I really enjoyed it before (and since) even during the Indurain years.

what bugged me (pun intended) about armstrong recently was him sticking loads of dead butterflies on his bike when he's all 'live strong' etc. far more fitting if he'd ridden the last leg with a big glass helmet on his head with live butterflies in, or faeces, and i hate damien hurst as well... also as he's a cyclist, surely Legstrong would be a better name, so i hate his name too. do i get the prize for the most intelligent post on this thread? thought not.

I just wrote a play about drugs in cycling, called Pedal Pusher. When I began work on the piece - around 5 years ago - I was a complete Lance Armstrong freak. I completely bought into the legend of the cancer sufferer and Tour de France champion. After all, I used to say, once you have suffered the pain of cancer surely the pain of cycling up a mountain pales in comparison.
Having researched, listened, studied the man, my opinion is very different.
I think it is fairly conclusive he took EPO in 1999 (see interview Michael Ashenden http://nyvelocity.com/content/interviews/2009/michael-ashenden - I know this did not stand up against SCA but my feeling is he took EPO).
Considering that EPO use in the peloton was rife throughout that period, the use of EPO is not enought to damn the man alone. After all, it is fairly certain that Pantani used EPO and Ullrich's performance in 1997 indicates EPO use (see article in June 09 issue of ProCycling)
What I find so distasteful, however, is his holier than though attitude, linked with his bullying, jock-like need to control both the sport and the media that surrounds it. Armstrong wields a huge amount of power within the sport, and many feel that he is preventing attempts to clean up the peloton.
For those with the time, here is Greg LeMond speaking at the "Play the Game" conference - it is 45 minutes longe, but worth it for those with an interest.

- I think what he says about Armstrong is fairly damning.LeMond who campaigns for a clean sport... Millar who was caught and now, with Garmin works to eradicate doping... Bradley Wiggins, who has published his 'blood passport' on-line... These are my heroes.

You could say so:
Q: "Do you think Armstrong will ever come clean?"
A: "Him? No way. He has no conscience."

Love it.
Love him or hate him... or fear him and his lawyers?
Yes, but Ullrich would have needed more motivation than LeMond.
