The having weighted pedals that are always the right way are a good idea, but the rest is a bit OTT.
The tech level hasn't changed much because the "current tech" level is good enough for 99% of everyone out there. "Good enough and cheaper" will always win over "Perfect and More expensive".
Unless the LED indicators are really bright I wouldn't trust a driver to see that compared to my big hairy arm pointing outwards with me trying to stare into the driver's soul.
What I do like is that he didn't try to reinvent the bike as they usually do.
