  • haha, still wrong mitre tester! My picture is the right one, but wrong groupset.

My second attempt is a 2007 model. Ultratorque replaced square taper for the 2007 model year, so your 2006 would be the last of the line. The discount would have to be huge to make that the cheapest full carbon road bike, since Focus Cayos start at under a grand. 2009 Cayo Chorus with Fulcrum Racing 5s is <1700 http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Focus_Cayo_Expert_Campa_2009/5360037585/

  • The discount is pretty substantial. I don't want to say how much because I really really want this bike and am trying to keep it secret. And no, it's not the cheapest, but it's the cheapest in the shop that I work in. And I'm lazy.

Also, it's the cheapest way to get high spec wheels and groupset, without a diggidy-doubt.

I did look at focuses though, seen a few in the shop, they're nice bits of kit!

  • That cayo is a fucking bargain though, I'll bare that in mind if this falls through, for sure!

  • The discount is pretty substantial.

We all like a bargain from previous years' NOS. The only reason I haven't listed a road bike on this thread is that I snapped up a 2007 Look 585 Ultra in February for a 35% discount.

  • Oliver, I've wanted a Tommasini since I walked past an absolutely immaculate one tied haphazardly to a lamp-post in Rome. I did a massive comedy doubletake back to perve over it for ages. It was so beautiful. Damn you for getting there first.

NO-ONE beats me at pervy comedy double-takes!

Oh, I see, that's not what you meant, is it? ;)

Tommasinito got there first for a fixed/single-speed bike, though.

  • I love 70s and early 80s pro bikes. Hinault's first gen TT bike would be nice.

  • Saxon Twin Tube with erm slack chain. This isn't the one I want, but I cannot find the right picture.

  • In fact I might put a deposit down on it on monday, before anyone gets any ideas.. ha!

get the bike! and then we'll ride down to the backwaters of surrey and drink moonshine.

  • i think i would rather have dario build the bike than me.
    that's what i did :-)

i've always wanted to learn how to build my own bike and since this is a thread that involves dreaming a bit, i might as well be taught by Mr. Pegoretti.

  • I really like riding this and at last I found a pair of High flange record tubs for it today at a cycle jumble always wanted a MKM with full record.

  • A few Tommasini fans on here I see. Well I have one of my dream bikes...although it needs much better wheels and some general groupset-upgrading. Had an amazing time riding the tour of flanders on it.

I do worry so much about damaging the paintwork though, that I'm toying with getting a reasonably decent OTP road bike next year (once I've paid off this years cycle-scheme purchase) - something that I wouldn't mind falling off so much.

  • indurains tour winning bike in the pinarello museum.
built by dario pegoretti because he built better bikes than pinarello (that should upset a few pinarello fans :-)
it's not dissimilar from current models with the head tube extension and downtube nearly the same size as the head tube.

  • One of these:

i thought you would have chosen something with a bit of class and a bit more exclusive?

  • and am trying to keep it secret.

What by posting it on the "we are lusting after bikes" forum page? Did we teach you nothing? Sigh.

  • i thought you would have chosen something with a bit of class and a bit more exclusive?

I ride a trek and a norco ffs, my personal exclusivity is enough for me my bikes just have to work.

I rode a helix last week, after i got over the top tube making me dizzy I kinda loved it.

  • do it tim. you deserve it.
sell the plasic bike and a kidney.

  • Why the headtube extension Mr Smith?

  • Why the headtube extension Mr Smith?

bringing the top tube lower makes the front stiffer. the headtube isn't overlong for the size of bike it's just the lower TT makes it look like that.
obviously indurain wasn't called 'big mig' for nothing hence the stem extension on his bike.

edit: just realised i called it a head tube extension in my earlier post when it isn't actually extended :fail:

  • Because he was so tall I take it..:)

  • There is only one Yeti

  • It's gotta, gotta be a Burrow's Ratcatcher;

nearly bought one 6-7 years ago, but got a BikeE instead because i was worried about the off-centre rear wheel, one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. Mike had stopped building them, but I think he's just agreed to build me one, so looks like I'm finally going to have one :) I'm very happy, though I'm also going to be rather broke for a bit :?

  • One of the nicest track frames I've ever seen..

I wouldn't mind getting a TT bike to speed around on either
