Bike fail.
Thats one confused product. Classic british green & leather road bike VS Modern track bike VS fixie street/messenger bike.
Arent those mavic ellipse wheels track specific and not suitable for brakes? And wtf is with those ugly ugly drops combined with hoods. Thats one lethal combination.
Townsend did it better

look at the brake levers! that surely can't be comfortable!
the Flite-style saddle took interesting actually.
-

The bar and saddle need to be sorted out. But with an all black componentry it could be alright. True DFP, the bike you have attached is a lot better looking!

"Arent those mavic ellipse wheels track specific and not suitable for brakes?"
clincher and have a braking surface

What is the green tape for around the rims and tires of that Townsend?

what's wrong with the brake levers?

Its a retro thing, they used bits of tape for extra safety in holding tubs onto wheels back in the day. This might just be to look cool though.

I think the levers comment is referring to the acute angle between the lever and the handle bar. Normally the hood bar interface is a lot flatter because of comfort!
-

what's wrong with the brake levers?
I think its because those ugly track drops have a big drop before where the hoods are. When holding them I imagine the top bart of the bar would hit your arm.

what's wrong with the brake levers?
sorry I mean nothing wrong with them, it's the position of it.

What's the verdict on the frame itself? From this distance it looks pretty tight and clean and Kona are pretty good on quality but their alu frames do tend to have some ugly welding on them!
-
• #14
it look like they're made with decent tubing, but if the price is too high, might as well get a bob jackson vigorelli and build it up yourself, while saving a lots of money.

Well it's lugged, thus possibly brazed and not welded?
Or are those lugs just for show?

That's a point. Though, on the knoa website, it doesn't mention anything about it being lugged... Sneaky!

"Taking the Wagon series high into the bling-o-sphere, cycling aficionados will love this piece of mobile art: lugged frame, Dedacciai SAT bronze-welded Chromoly tubing, and a Mavic Track Ellipse wheelset. Bipedal candy if you ask us. If this bike doesn't get you dates-like, really hot dates-you might have issues."
Looks like a well put together bike from a quality company, good spec, looks like they have done their homework - what more do you want?
What other OTP comes with 75's and Gatorskins - And DFP the grandwagon is anything but a fail - plus how much would that Townsend cost? 3 grand?

I'm not into the bar/hood interface either, but it's not unworkable.
Similar:
People used to mount their hoods at a much lower part of the curve, with a steep transition.

They are also doing the Band Wagon - loving the description:
New for 2010, the Band Wagon is a Paddy Wagon all hopped up. It's the same frame, with geometry somewhere between true track and road for the best of both worlds,** but the powder blue and bright orange deep dish rim sporting Band Wagon features higher end spec than the Paddy-for hipsters with a bit more cake**. A bike so sweet you could ride it naked and few would notice. But please don't do that. Except on World Naked Bike Ride Day:

My bad vinyl villain! My eyes have failed me. People are bound to hate on this frame because it comes froma a major manufacture. But I think if a lot of people saw it in the street, they would give it a second look. Well done Kona!

In my view, Kona have done well in covering their singlespeed range of bikes. I don't think any of their bikes are a "fail", as they've obviously given a lot of thought to.
Kona GRAND WAGON (competitor to Fixie Inc bikes)
http://www.konaworld.com/images/bikes/lrg/grandwagon.jpgKona BAND WAGON (an in-joke, since its only a Paddy Wagon with deep-V's)
http://www.konaworld.com/images/bikes/lrg/bandwagon.jpgKona PADDY WAGON (their standard singlespeed, and a good one)
http://www.konaworld.com/images/bikes/lrg/paddywagon.jpgKona HUMU (a retro MTB of the true original style; good for various surfaces)
http://www.konaworld.com/images/bikes/lrg/humu.jpgKona UNIT (a hardcore Do-It-All - I like it)
http://www.konaworld.com/images/bikes/lrg/unit.jpgKona AFRICA BIKE (I saw a lady on one at Blackfriars - would suit re-colouring)

Like the grand wagon (nice flite saddle). Also, saw this Kona the other day and fell in ove with it. I did'nt even realise before then that I needed a BMX shopper :)

After having a good look at the brand wagon, it actually does look very appealing with the exception of the handlebar.
if they have some nice classic drop instead of those track one, it would be a winner.
actually it's defintely better than the incredibly expensive colnago singlespeed.

Yep, I agree with Ed. If priced right (around or under £1000) this could be a winner!
Wonder what it rides like... I imagine similar to the paddy wagon but maybe a bit smoother with that better quality tubing?
It's also got one ugly-ass stem to complement those bars. Sort it!

My friend has one of these http://www.konaworld.com/images/bikes/lrg/africabike3.jpg
Utterly indestructible.
Don't know if this has been mentioned before...

What do you guys reckon?
Personally I think it looks pretty sweet!
