  • does anyone know if radial lacing invalidates the guarantee on these babies? i can't find any mention of terms anywhere.

as far as I know, lacing would be fine if the hubs are forged and not machined.

  • Campy Pista cranks then? What's the spindle length on the BB?

  • I believe said cut-away section is often referred to by bike-porn aficionados as:

    "The Glory Hole"

I'm eyeing up an italian track frame with that, watch this space.

  • yep, campy crankies. spindle's 109, at their suggestion.

  • And my final question: what rims you getting???

  • tour de ville found a bunch of beautiful unbuilt rigida dt18's, polished and unmachined. i'm getting those built up. almost got a set of charcoal campy omega v's but went for the deeper rims in the end.

  • So glad I went for Royce's now. Sorry Phil.

  • Yeh! XXXIV you chose well, British engineering FTW

  • teddy/stingerman, how did you manage to contact Royce ? i've been trying to phone them for days now, but no answer, and emailed them twice, and no joy.

  • ring them. 0142 562 0062. it's only one dude in the office (cliff), and he's not always at his desk.

  • thanks teddy, i'll have to persist.

i got the same rear hub as you, but in 130mm spacing, all i need is a quote from him to re-space it to 120mm.
bloody nice hubs, but got mine for £40 ;)

I asked same question in June

Q i bought a second hand wheel with a 130mm OLN rear Royce track hub on
it, if i wanted to convert it to 120mm is it possible? And for how much?

A the cost of supplying a 120mm Track Spindle with two spacers and two Bearing would be £70.00 less 10%, plus £6.50 P&P.

    I sold the wheel

  • I asked same question in June

    Q i bought a seco..........blah...................blah............

    I sold the wheel

nice hubs for sure, but good/fair call.

  • oh joy... thats a ridiculous price.... thanks though for the info, it saves me waiting for an answer...

so, what i am thinking is to simply lengthen the threads myself on the spacer part, which should be piss easy given the correct die's, M11 x1.0 to be exact... which are non standard threading and then machine down the remaining excess thread.
i am as we speak trying to find someone who can do that in London. Not that easy as i thought it would be.

  • RIDICLOUS! NOT REDICLOUS!

sorry, it's burning up inside me eating me alive.

  • How much of a rush are you in Dylan? I can machine the bar down for you no problem and maybe do the threading (totally depending on if we have the die or not). You'll have to wait until I'm back at uni though (end September).

Let me know if you can't get it done elsewhere

awesome ! moog im in no rush so i can wait. obviously more than a few pints in it for you if you can pull it off.

i might just build a cheap hub up in the meantime to get rolling just cos i'm impatient bastard.

  • PM me near the end of September and I'll get it sorted (definitely the cutting and facing and possibly cutting the threads).

Ed, you're the WRONG person to start correcting someone's spelling.

    Nice hubs Teddy!

    FFS ed - it's RIDICULOUS.

Now go and learn how to spell 'irony'

  • Royce aftersales "FTW", Cliffs a true gent, modified my rear cassette hub spindle and provided two plungers (which look to be titanium!!) for his new ez lube system for owt! The best bit.. posted my axle friday, he rang me monday to say it was ready!

Couldn't recommend them enough. As for £70 for an axle and spacers, seems cheap for a precision machined titanium axle with a lifetime warranty. Oh it seems the design of Phils hubs are a winner for re-spacing!

    Aahahahahaha!
