Hey! You're not new! You've been talking about pets.
I'm one week old on the LFgSs.
Newish...
I need to bump up my cred and realise pet postings won't help, even if it is a remarkable photo of my Speirs cat doing a number 2 on a flush toilet.
Thanks for the warm welcome! -

Tell me about it. Yet to receive the benefit of his association. "All I get it is, gook this, gook that. Shouldn't you be digging a tunnel? You can't eat sandwiches, unless there's rice in it." He thinks it hilarious to play that Paul Hardcastle record when I'm about. I was convinced he was going to Wickerman me using napalm and agent orange as part of my LFgSs induction, hence why I've been keeping under the parapet.

No, you misunderstand. Your welcome still applies, but I've decided that on the basis of this experience, nicities are not for me.

Jesus christ! Your cat seriously uses the toilet?

I started riding fixed because I was getting bored of being geared, i can see in the future I might become bored of fixed too and go back... but not yet.
to me it's not a question of getting bored of riding them, it's getting the most enjoyable ride out of it.
geared was boring at first, but perhaps because I don't know how to ride it properly at first, fixed made it even more fun by the fact it's one geared, drivetrain is fixed, etc.
then after that, geared start to make more sense to me, now I realise how to take advantage of it more now and able to see what's the fuss is about after learning how to keep a good cadence, keeping a good rhythm, developing muscle, etc.

She certainly can, but I put an end to it, as it I discovered, like dogs cats also like to drink from the loo bowl.

I was in a zoo on the Isle of Man, aged about 10, and observered a tapir, which was standing in water, drinking at one end whilst shitting at the other. This image remains very fresh in my mind.
Carry on.

67km round trip up to 3 times a week. I work in a plant that processes waste industrial chemicals so it doesn't matter if I stink, no one can tell.

Really? But I'm the gook - surely that makes it impossible for me to be racist? ;-)
I've been serious giving thought into creating a global movement to reclaim the word gook and Oriental. ;-) -

It was heartbreaking at the time. Took me a month to train and then I enjoyed one day of cat flushing toilet before I realized it was a wasted pursuit. Then I ordered a shitload of worming tablets.

Can't you just stop drinking from the toilet then? Try weaning yourself onto drinking from the bath or the sink.
Crapola. Why didn't I think of that? All these years of living with toxoplasma.

Okay, okay, I concede.

Wow, this thread woke up a bit there.
Hello, hello. I'm new. (Go easy on me, please). Not just to LondonFgSs but to cycling in general, but I indeed have the bug. I learned how to cycle about 6 weeks ago or thereabouts and began commuting to work pretty much immediately, albeit rather incompetently (I'm probably one of those nodders that really annoys you on your way into central London). Generally, I do about 30Km a day (sorry about the metric) but it varies as I freelance. This week I've done much more because my current gig is in Fulham (I live in N4) and I also cycle to and fro for my yoga classes and social meet ups. I realized yesterday that I was going to miss the extra distance I'm currently doing and am planning an alternative longer route home for those nights I fancy the extra km. For the first month I wasn't cycling every day but I accummalted over just over 400km (something only impressive to me) but the last two weeks I've cycled every day and hope to be improving on time and mileage in general. I've also got a few long weekend rides planned for August, which I'm also really looking forward too (although, I realize now probably the wrong thread to bring that up in, ooops.) I'm enjoying the cycle commute that I am seriously thinking moving farther a field, something I never would have considered before - the words 'close to transport' links are now redundant!
