  • I bought a bike and one of the front forks is bent, can this be fixed?

I bought another set of forks and the stem is too short to fit into the frame (e.g. the thread wont come out the top of the frame to do up the head set), can this be solved any way?

    Thanks

  • nope
    and nope

  • Unfortunately not, if the steerer tube on the fork is too short the only solution is to buy a fork with a longer steerer. If buying forks secondhand measure the steerer to see if it is long enough as it may have been cut down for a different bike.

  • Buy some forks with a long enough steerer tube, or if you're only just short of length, buy a headset with a lower stack height.

  • does anyone know where i can buy second hand ones online apart from ebay? it needs to have a stem that is 7.5 inches long

  • you need a fork with a "steerer" 7.1 inches, not stem

  • yes thats it, anyone know where i can find a second hand one?

  • Check the bay or LBS, Tour D Ville have some second hand ones but they are nice at a nice price

  • what is lbs?

  • hover your mouse over the word

  • If you are in London Brick Lane Bikes have a box you can rummage in I got a nice set of unpainted straight ones for my ralnago £30 .. bargain

  • Wait!

I've actually encountered this problem recently and yes there is something that can be done - you can get a new steerer put on the fork for about £30

Though it depends on the fork - some forks will break if you try to replace the steerer.

  • see if any one wants to do a swapsie

  • hover your mouse over the word

Did you do that? How? it's nice. We could do all the acronyms.

  • hover your mouse over the word

Woah wtf is that all about? I know what LBS means, natch, but never heard of this holding the pointer over the word lark.

  • If you're headtube is long enough, just ask a mechanic to cut 2 'windows' in it, about half way down, one at the front for the stem to poke out, and one at the back for your stem clamp to sit outside. Then clamp your handlebar stem onto the steerer tube within the window.

This may mean using a high-rise stem to get your bars up to the desired height.

  • hover your mouse over the word

when the fnck did that shit happen!?

    1. Post-Vanilla, I think.

Are you lot on drugs or something?

  • What else does it work for?

    WAC
    WTF
    HTFU
    UTFS

  • .

  • how the hell have you missed this?
