Yes please. My last ride out that way was out to Canvey Island and there's a very cool hill somewhere on the outskirts of Barking where you can look down on London's famous London and you get an awesome view of the surrounding fields with the Gherkin, Canary Wharf, and if you time it right like we did accidentally, the sun glinting off the top of the 'dome. Really strange to see London land locked like that but striking.

I'll be doing a recce of this when I'm back from holiday and will need two or three recce mates. This will probably take place on a weekday in the week beginning the 24th of August. PM me if you have time then. I can do the Monday or the Thursday.

I have been out east around Epping a few times recently, so would definatley like to see more, especially if this is being aranged by someone who knows the back roads!

Who is riding what for this, fixed/geared/single? I'm sure 70 miles will be fine by then but at the moment that would seem a bit of a daunting distance for me fixed!

I am supposed to go to a wedding this day. I hate weddings - well those of people I barely know anyway.
I plan to 'have swine flu' so I can still go on this ride, but it may be impossible.

I've been doing a few longer rides to try to prepare a little bit for this ride. I'm really looking forward to it. Are people riding fixed, free or geared? I've been riding geared for the past couple of weeks but I have been in very hilly parts of Wales and Devon.

I'm now much more strongly considering riding this thing fixed. I've set up my bike with a completely different front end more suited to distance and speed (not that we'll be going for speed!)
