    Too cheap to be good, seems to be a fair point. I'm wondering if the steel is hollow, but "case hardened". That way, the manufacturer could get away with using less steel, but still give the enticing dimension of an 18mm thickness.

    My guess, at that price, its originating from China. That's not a bad thing, but the steel base looks very insignificant. Were I a thief, I'd attack the base rather than the shackle itself. Still, at that price, its better than cable locks for example.

    I'll email the supplier (Phoenix) and ask the weight. That will tell if its solid all the way through. I'd be expecting a weight of 2.5+kgs. Yes, heavy, but all 18mm U-Locks would be. I'll put in a "pending" section, of the Locks That Work thread.
