^+1. The gears might have been Simplex, Huret, or Benelux. 1952 was a period of austerity after the war, so I can imagine Rotrax bearing with whatever was available.

Think there is a Huret rear derailleur on t'Bay at the moment.

Result. The frames alone go for £400/450 when new these days...

if you do convert this, hang on to everything that you take off this bike. put it in a box and store it safely.
then next year, when the fixed craze is over and you realise that you actually want a vintage racer to keep up with the trendies, you'll have everything there and you can put it back together how it should be.

Frank I'm going to say get a nice honey Brooks Team Pro to stick on that, and maybe re-wrap the bars with honey tape too, it'd look so beautiful against the frame colour. I think you've ended up buying a bike that needs dedication to its heritage which is gunna cost.
Maybe an old ideal saddle, some vintage ones turn up on t'bay now and again, not to pricey either.
But then again, if you go with Tynan's obviously sound advice, I've got some neon coloured bmx shit you can stick on it....

Im game for a team pro but you think honey? might have to do a little photoshop jobby to help me decide. It does kind of suck about the rear derailleur i have asked the family i got it from but unfortunately the original must be lost in the sands of time. That’s why i was thinking go single speed for a bit then when i find its original derailleur i could put it on, i wouldn’t be doing anything silly like changing the hub though. Could anyone hazard a guess at what this bike might actually be worth just out of curiosity.....i think i will decline on the unipack.

I wouldn't worry too much about the derailleur etc... they weren't exactly the most high tech doohickies to ever grace bicycles: http://www.disraeligears.co.uk/Site/Renak_derailleur_%284th_style%29.html

@ frank.f
You are so lucky to have a rotrax.
My Dad was given a rotrax much like that with nuovo record kit back in the early 70s ... sadly it was stolen. Apparently it was a proper beast back in the day.

So you think something like this Morgan? i dont know if i like it, even though the photoshop is exceedingly crap and it would look about a million times better.

Agreed, get the fucker bead-blasted and powder-coated black - then get rid of those fucking wheels and put some radical orange deep Vs on.

Sorry to show you up, both conceptually and technically, in such a humiliating way in public but...

It appears that your Arroshpok is bent brokewards.
P.S. Rad conversion, sick as fuck but not too good.
Underwater?
Cardboard glasses?

It's a new style of conceptual design, you're obviously too mentally limited to understand

Colour is very 2008 - 2009 is all about powered surface finishes, unless your paint needs a power supply then forget it.

"Whatcha talkin'about Willis" 700c rear disc - Lexcarbon 24" front monospoke to lo-pro the fucker up - then using the same people who designed the colour scheme for the Raleigh lizard I'd get some radical fades going on - all GLOW IN THE FUCKING DARK - then top it off with some super rare NJS fluro shit.
lovely find
