@porter, to be honest mate, you wouldn't enjoy riding your bike that much if you're more worried about getting damaged, or ev en a small nick on the paintjob.
there's this theory I got about 'beater', that the less you care about the bike, the more you'll enjoy riding it, this is the general impression I got from certain people here who have a beater and declare that they have a lots of fun riding it.
