That's awesome! Keep it as it is please. Rotrax bikes are pretty collectable and I haven't seen one as mint as that before. Have you checked our Classic Lightweights for info?

yeah i think i will keep it as is, it does need a new saddle though. i would like to know what it came with originally. just reading through classics lightweights now, some nice examples but i cant see mine. A link to some higher quality pics if anyone is interested.

I really do love the blue, brilliant find and £100 worth spending!
Is the crank original? it doesn't look quite old.

thats really shit, you need to hang your head in shame and give it to me as penance. I promise that you have'nt found a really nice bike that should under no circumstances be turned into a fixed and left as it is out of respect for its original beauty. PM and we'll arrange for me to collect it asap.

i have no idea! i wish i knew how much of it is original, i have contacted Tim from rotrax cycles and sent a few pictures so hopefully i can find out. I want to try and reunite it with its original saddle what ever that may be. It also came with some Christophe toeclips and straps but i took them off, i might put them back on though as it looks a little lost without them.

i am deffinatly not going to convert it to fixed! it was only a glancing thought about going single speed but i asked the bike and it told me it was quite happy so its going to stay as is.

Agreed, get the fucker bead-blasted and powder-coated black - then get rid of those fucking wheels and put some radical orange deep Vs on.

a swallow would be lovely bit it would cost as much as the entire bike! would be nice though... obviously not before rattle canning the frame black cutting off the braze ons and fitting the fluro saddle. hmm my sister does need an slr but i think i might cry a little if i had to part with this bike.

Lovely details on the bike. I think it would be fine with a standard black brooks b17.

Awesome find. Rear deraileur is definitely not original though; the Suntour SVX was a re-hash of the 70's VX series released in 1986.
It would definitely be worth finding out what was on it originally and restoring it!
Hi all, just wanted to share my lovely new bike. This is a 1952 rotrax I don’t really know much more than that. The bike is in amazing condition and belonged to my friends dad unfortunately it has spent most of its life in an attic practically virgin, bad news for the bike, good news for me. I bought it off my friends mum for £100 and it comes with the original paperwork, I have no idea what its worth but I thought it was defiantly worth a hundred quid, it's beautiful. what do you guys think? anyone seen one like it before? I know the company were based in Southampton and built some lovely bikes, I don’t yet have the paperwork so I cant pry any further. Any advice on a new saddle? unfortunately the original has gone. I was thinking I might convert it to single speed and just use it as my fancy sunny day ponsing around bike, as I already have a fully geared claud but then look at it I don’t know if I have the heart.
